Volunteers

Our traffic-marshal gauges are in the red. 🚦 Without enough traffic marshals, the Avondvierdaagse can't go ahead, that's the condition of our permit. Will you help?

Wonderful that you want to help!

The Avondvierdaagse Oog in Al runs entirely on volunteers. Walking an evening, marshalling traffic, pouring coffee at the square, every bit helps.

Become a traffic marshal

As a traffic marshal you direct traffic at points assigned by the organisation. You cycle to your assigned junction, make sure the children cross safely, and then move on to the next point as soon as the group has passed.

What you need to know:

  • You take an online briefing and traffic exam in advance, about 30 minutes total.
  • On the evening itself, arrive half an hour before departure for the final briefing.
  • You don't have to sign up for all four evenings; you indicate which evenings work for you.

Other jobs

  • Handing out start cards and stamps at the square.
  • Set-up and clean-up (tent, sound, flags).
  • Welcoming the last walkers home.
  • Helping shape the organisation committee (year-round, roughly one meeting per month from November through May).
