Practical info

Help! We still need many traffic marshals. Without enough traffic marshals the Avondvierdaagse can't go ahead, that is the condition of our municipal permit. Sign up as a volunteer.

Location

The gathering point is the Beethovenplein, the green between Sint Dominicusschool and Johan de Wittschool. Each school has its own gathering spot, marked by a unique flag.

Who can join?

Children from age 6 (Dutch school year "groep 3") and up can walk. Younger children don't participate so we can keep the pace and traffic safety under control.

Distances

You choose between 5 km or 10 km. A six-year-old usually handles 5 km without issue. Middle years tend to walk 5 km, upper years often 10 km. The routes partly resemble those of previous years, with a few changes.

Fun & responsibility

The Avondvierdaagse is organised by parents from the five schools, not by the schools themselves. The primary responsibility for safe, sporty behaviour of the children lies with their parents.

We need enough walking adults on every route. Can't walk yourself? Arrange for your child to walk with another parent.

Dates and times

22 to 25 June 2026

18:00, 10 km start
18:30, 5 km start
20:30, end (or earlier when everyone is back)

On Thursday 25 June everyone leaves together at 18:30 for a joint 5 km finish (no 10 km that evening).

In the WhatsApp group we share:

Last-minute updates (e.g. route change or severe weather).
Live location of the 5 and 10 km groups.

It's a one-way group, only the organisation posts, no spam or chatter. Your phone number is only visible to people who already had it.

Traffic marshals are the critical vacancy for 22–25 June 2026. You don't have to do all four evenings. No experience needed: you do an online exam and work in pairs. Sign up ›

Costs and U-Pas

Registration cost: €8.25 per child for 5 km or 10 km. Parents and accompanying adults don't need to register separately, but may register to get a stamp card and medal.

U-Pas holders get a €3 discount and pay €5.25 at registration with a valid U-Pas number in the participant's name.
